We can all agree that there can never be too many restaurants! After living in the Tampa Bay area for so long, the same old places can get boring and predictable. Basically, it’s not uncommon to long for something new to wet your appetite! Luckily for us, Salt Shack On the Bay just opened in the area and has been serving up delicious food, fresh for everyone!
Salt Shack officially opened its doors on July 1st and has already climbed to the top as a new local hot spot. The restaurant offers “gulf to table” food, prepared fresh in house seafood and other delights with a casual environment. Perhaps one of the coolest features of Salt Shack is their drive up or dock up option! Guests looking to dine straight from the boat can dock right outside the restaurant and make their way inside! More traditional guests, who drive to lunch and dinner can definitely park as usual.
This hot spot is the perfect summer spot for guests looking for warm sea breezes and incredible food and cocktails. Whether you’re dining during the day or dining at night, Salt Shack’s prime setting will delight with perfect views of both Tampa and St. Pete’s skylines.
About the Land
Salt Shack is located on an area of land known as Rattlesnake Point, right off of Gandy Bridge in South Tampa. This area came to be known as such due to the overwhelming snake population during the early 20th century. Have no fear though—Salt Shack is snake free, the history is just rich! The history adds to the incredible surroundings and beautiful atmosphere this great lunch and dinner spot has to offer.
The Menu
Salt Shack’s menu is perfectly organized into five categories: Starters, Handhelds & Burgers, Sea & Land, Beverages, and Kids & Desserts. As with any delicious restaurant, you much check out the Starters menu! On this menu, check out the Baskets & Starters where you will find Caribbean Fritters, Conch, Tartare, Oysters and more! Or, check out the Soups & Salads side of the Starter menu where you can enjoy a warm bowl of Conch Chowder or a crisp plate of their Avocado Shrimp Salad—yum!
Once you’ve jumpstarted your palate, consider ordering a drink off of the Beverages menu! This menu is long, so take your time reading it over! Try The Skyyway Breeze drink off of the Signature Drinks menu or the Bahama Mama off of the Caribbean Specialties menu. Other options at Salt Shack include drinks such as Martinis and Mules off of the Darn Good Cocktails Menu a Margarita off of the South of the Border Menu, or Mojitos! Guests can also order from a large list of Beer or Wine!
If you’re ready for an entrée at Salt Shack, check out the Handhelds & Burgers menu where you can order a Crab Cake Sandwich, Fish Tacos, Jerk Burgers, or an Island Chicken Sandwich! For something a bit fishier, take a glance at the Sea & Land menu! There you will find a Catch of the Day section with Crab Cakes, Gulf Shrimp, Chimichurri Steak, and more!
On the Kids & Dessert menu, you can find kids menu items and delicious dessert options to end the night. Check out the Golden Rum Cake and Key Lime Pie. The menu also offers a Double Chocolate Torte as well as assorted ice creams and sorbets!
